• this is a type of diabetes mellitus associated with increase in level of glucose level in blood which results from problem in insulin production and action.

• fasting plasma glucose level is equal or greater then 126mg/dl(7.0mol/L).
• glucose tolerance test :- in this test 75 gm of glucose is dissolved ad given in water after 2 hrs. if glucose is equal or greater then 200.

      normal blood sugar : 140mg/dl(2 hrs after eating)

      200 or higher ; diabetes
